Here are the answers to some common questions about using your ARPS account and using Google Classroom. Please see the visual guide below for an overview with screenshots, and these FAQs for specific questions.

 

  • How do I log into my ARPS email account?

First, type http://gmail.com into your address bar and press Enter. Type your ARPS email address into the box provided (including “@arps.org”) and click the blue button. Then type in the password you chose when you created your account and click to sign in. You should now see your email inbox with email messages in the center of the screen, where the most recent messages come first.

 

  • How do I join a new class on Google Classroom?

Access your ARPS email account using the steps provided in Question 1. Then look for an email from your teacher with the subject line “Class invitation: [name of class].” Open this email, then click on the blue “Join” button. You will automatically be enrolled in the Google Classroom, and you will see the class homepage on your screen.

 

  • How do I access Google Classroom once I’ve joined a class?

First, type http://classroom.google.com into your address bar and press Enter. If you are not already signed into your ARPS account, follow the same steps as in Question 1 to sign in. Once you sign in, or if you are already signed in, you will see a grid of the classes you are enrolled in. Click on the box for the class you want to view.

 

  • What will I see on the homepage for a class on Google Classroom?

The class homepage on Google Classroom includes the most recent posts from your teacher and any other staff members in the class, as well as any posted assignments. To see just assignments, click on the “Classwork” tab at the top of your screen.

 

  • How do I submit an assignment on Google Classroom?

If you see the assignment on the class homepage, click on it to enter the page for that assignment. Otherwise, click on the Classwork tab, then select the assignment for which you want to submit work. In the box on the right that says “Your Work,” click the button that says “+ Add or Create.” A drop-down menu will appear with links to upload a file or create a new Google Doc, among other options. If you are uploading a file, click the “File” button and then select the file from your computer. If you are creating a new Google Doc, select the “Google Doc” button, and a new document will open.

 

  • How do I join a virtual class or activity meeting?

Virtual meetings can be accessed through links. The teacher will create a new post before every class with the link to the virtual meeting. This link will remain the same throughout the class, and it will also appear in the box at the top of the class homepage, so you can click this link to join the meeting as well. Once you open the meeting page, click the green button to enter the meeting.
